What to do when antique dealer sold you a fake and told you it is rare?
I recently purchased expensive piece of antique (total $1,300). It is a lot of money for me. After a few days, I took them to get appraised and found out they are fake. I really want to return but the dealer have not answer to my emails.
I purchased it with Wachovia check card. In the past, this bank have declined to help me on a similiar issue, citing that I need to resolved that with the seller and it is not a scam.
I know I got scammed. I want my money back. Any help? Comment? Thanks in advance.
If you can, call the bank and put a “freeze” or stop on the transaction, which I have done with my credit card before when the transaction was fraudulent. If the dealer is in a business location, show up with the antiques in hand, put them on the counter, and demand a refund. I would also bring a friend as moral support and a witness, particularly a large and imposing one who can command respect LOL. A report to the BBB is a good idea too, a manager at my last apartment stole stuff from me and I reported her and the company. She got fired, although I didn’t get my stuff or $$ back. Anyway, they won’t answer you if they can help it, so show up in person and force a confrontation. If that doesn’t work, go to small claims court, this type of contract fraud is called “fraud in the inducement” which you can prove with the appraisal (bring the paperwork) and the fact that they told you the piece was genuine.
