What year from 1870-1939 is the most interesting or important?

A friend of mine is a fan of WORLD history and WORLD geography and I want to get her an Antique Atlas, an original copy, as a gift. Now, I have found LOTS of them, and I can get any year between 1890 and 1939… any single year in that range, meaning 50 different choices. For a WORLD history and geography buff, which year’s atlas would give the biggest wow? I want the map that shows the most change from today’s look. Which would you choose, which year? 1870 was 5 years after the Civil War. The country was really changing at that point. 13 states had yet to enter the Union. Ulysses S. Grant was president of the United States. The Franco Prussian war began.
